Observation decks are engineered with the same care as wine cellars. Astronomers-in-residence have become a staffing consideration as standard as a sommelier. Telescope technology that once lived exclusively in research institutions now occupies purpose-built pavilions on private estates.

This is not stargazing as an amenity add-on. It is stargazing as the organizing principle of an entire property.

What makes the light pollution map so compelling as a travel tool is not merely what it reveals about the night sky. It is what it demands of the traveler who chooses to use it.
